Company holiday

Design & Data

An exciting year ends and we are looking forward to the New Year 2015. In the meantime we will take a break to recharge our batteries. Our annual company holiday leave lasts from 19th December 2014 to 5th January 2015!

Our year has started with an image video production for the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). We visited the organisation in Reading and talked to their scientists. They told us about their cutting edge methods for creating precise weather forecasts. You can watch the outcome here.

In February we celebrated our third birthday with the Design & Data Showreel 2014.

The highlight of our year came up in November, when the orbiter Rosetta reached the comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. From the ESA control centre in Darmstadt we supported the European Space Agency with its Web TV coverage of Philae’s landing. The usage of several new Twitter Tools helped us to increase the engagement in the social network. Prior to the #CometLanding event, we already produced various edutainment cartoons on this subject. The Rosetta cartoon series was well received by children and adults alike. It provided general background information about the mission in preparation for the historic Rosetta landing event. Up till the present day, the most successful clip from the Rosetta cartoon series "Preparing for #CometLanding" was viewed over 600,000 times on YouTube. In addition the film "#WakeUpRosetta – Once upon a time…" obtained the Communicator Award and the W3 Award. The "Rosetta – Fabulous fables and tales of tails" film came second in the Fast Forward Science contest for the category #Scitainment. Thanks to the great success of these films we are planning to go on with the story!

On a final note, we would like to express our gratitude towards all of our customers and partners for their support and the exceptional collaborations during the past twelve months. We also like to thank the Internet community, who followed our productions and sent us their kind feedback. In 2015 we will continue our work and realise more exciting projects. In the meantime we wish you all a festive holiday season and a great start into the New Year 2015. See you around!

Yours,

Team of Design & Data
